A recurring question I've been getting in the past few weeks, is do you take product photos? The short answer is Yes. I wouldn't say it's part of my usual workload or a USP of mine, but at the end of October I did spend two and a half days in the studio and nearly a week editing one hundred and twenty six product photos for the Style of Wight Christmas gift guide. The items varied between Jewellery, Bags, Perfume, Scarfs, Gloves, Hats, gift sets, handmade items and artworks, children's toys, things for the kitchen, knickers, the list goes on and on! I've put a selection of images at the bottom of this blog post for you to have a butchers at some of the work I did. As hard a job it was due to the amount of items I had to photograph and the short timeline I had to do it all in, I have to say it is still very satisfying to see your work in print and it always puts a smile on my face. In other but related news, I have been so busy with photography work this month! I honestly can't remember being so busy before, and I've freaking loved it! It has quieted down in the past week or so which has been good too to be honest. For a while I've been struggling to switch my brain off and actually take breaks and have days off (the joy's of working from home and being a sole trader!) but I think I might have run myself raged, so I was quite glad after practically working for four weeks straight, to have some down time. I managed to read for the first time in an age which was lovely! It's something I enjoy doing so much and I don't do nearly enough anymore (If you're wondering what I've been reading, I finally got round to reading "Maus" and I think I might read "We need to talk about Kevin" next.) I'm sorry if this blog entry is random, all over the place and potentially not very cohesive. I really wanted to show off what I had done as soon as the magazine came out as I couldn't before then. I'll say sayonara for now, but I have a few things coming up for the blog that I'm really excited about, awww yeah! Love & Stuff xo.

It's great when you photograph important moments in peoples lives. It's an honour to be picked and trusted enough to be in charge of documenting these moments, knowing that those photos will be treasured, shown off, viewed over and over again and become a window into the past. .. at least I hope they will be! Alan and Lisa initially just booked me as the Photographer for their Wedding in August of next year. We hit the studio last week however to have a baby bump photo shoot and had a right giggle in the process. When the baby arrives I'll also be doing a newborn shoot, which is always a great excuse for me to cuddle babies and get a bit broody! I love that I've started a real journey with these two! It's great to do a shoot before the Wedding in my opinion anyway; it makes people more relaxed about having a camera in their face and they have some idea of what to expect, particularly if they have never had a wedding shoot. But to start of with something like this instead of a straight up engagement shoot, is for me a little bit extra special. Love & Stuff xo. Getting married is a wonderful thing, but planning a Wedding can be incredibly daunting. I always recommend starting off by going to a Wedding Fayre or two; get to know what suppliers and businesses are around you and see in the flesh what they do and what they can offer you. In this day and age it is very easy to just search the internet to find Photographers, Florists, dresses etc. Although the internet is amazing resource that is not to be scoffed at or underestimated, I still believe nothing beats face to face contact with someone. I have taken part in a few Wight Wedding Days Wedding Fayres. I am in their large Isle of Wight Wedding Directory and the events they do are well organised and are always a success! I really did have a great day today, It's nice to catch up with owners of businesses and see familiar faces, but also to see new faces in the form of vendors or couples. I had two bookings at today's fayre (Including my first booking for 2017) and I received a lot of interest, so fingers crossed for even more bookings! I didn't take my DSLR with me this time, but I did manage to get a few snaps on my phone before the doors opened of a few stalls that were there today. Some of these included Wight Photobooths, Doris Pinks Florist, The Events Co. Donna Jones Hairdressing, Proper Vintage and Elizabeth Smith. As far as I know, this was the last Wedding Fayre on the Isle of Wight for this year (it certainly was mine), but fear not! Wight Bridal are hosting a Wedding show on Sunday 24th January 2016 at Medina Leisure Centre - I hope to see you there! Love & Stuff xo. |
