Q: Should we have an Engagement Shoot?
A: Engagement Shoots are a fairly new thing, but I honestly think they are a fantastic idea (I wish now that my Husband and I had done one to be honest with you). They are a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera and for you to get to know your Photographer before the big day. It’s also rare that couples have professional photos together, so what a perfect reason to get some done. You can also use the photos for so many things. E.g. wedding invites, decorations at the wedding itself, as part of your guest book, printed and displayed in your home or even a profile picture on Facebook.
Q: Where should we go for our Engagement Shoot?
A: I always ask my couples where they want to go for their shoot. I feel that the shoot is made extra special when we go to a place that has meaning to my couple. Where did you get engaged? Do you take your dog for a walk at a beautiful location often? Do you both go surfing and go to a certain beach every week? Where did you meet? Have a think and suggest a location to your Photographer.
Q: What should we wear for our Engagement Shoot?
A: Something you feel comfortable in and you know you look great in. If you're stuck between outfits, feel free to bring two along and you can always have an outfit change. It might be a great opportunity to buy a new outfit of course, or buy those shoes you’ve had your eye on for a while. (By no means do you need to go out and buy matching outfits though! Unless that’s your jam.)
Q: I have an idea for our Engagement Shoot, should I tell my Photographer?
A: YES. Your engagement (and wedding) photos should be a reflection of you both, your relationship and your personalities. Do you want to bring your pets along? Are you both heavily into Harry Potter or Star Wars? Do you both love skydiving or both really want to go? Tell your Photographer about it! You never know, it might be the basis for an epic and unique Engagement Shoot.
Q: How many photos should we expect to get from an Engagement Shoot, and how quickly will we get the edits back?
A: Honestly it totally depends on which Photographer you choose, and I would urge you to ask your Photographer before the shoot itself so you know what to expect. I myself hand over an average of sixty edited images and aim to get the edits sent to you within seven working days.
