Award Winning Pianist Thomas Luke Photo Shoot

Thomas is a fabulous Pianist, who studies at The Royal College of Music in London, was the keyboard category winner of the BBC Young Musician 2020 competition, and a thoroughly lovely chap who on our photo shoot played the theme to Super Mario on the spot because I asked him to!

Luke approached me and asked I could do some photos of him that he could use as headshots and for promotional material for his performances. He was very keen to add a splash of yellow into the photos to add a lovely pop of colour, and me being a lover of colour I eagerly agreed.

We managed to get some different types of shots  too without so much colour pop, including some black and white photos with some more moody lighting. Why does black and white work for portraits so much, particularly for musicians? Is it the black and white keys on the piano, maybe that has something to do with it... 🤔
