This brave couple battled the elements with me not long before Christmas '23, to have a photo shoot together while they visited the Isle of Wight.

The weather was incredibly windy that day, but it was a blessing being December in the UK that it wasn't raining, so we went for it!

Gwen bought with her a bag of goodies, including her Polaroid camera and these fantastic heart shaped sun glasses, yes ironic seeing as it was so grey that day, but so great because they were a brilliant burst of colour on such a gloomy day.

I think we proved that no matter the weather, you can make the most of it and still have some lovely snaps.

After Holly Ella and I had met up for a coffee and a chat, I was in no doubt that these two wanted a beautiful but fuss free wedding, as relaxed as they could possibly do it and the main priority was to celebrate their love with their family and friends and have fun, and that’s what they did!
 
The wedding and reception all took place at Ventnor Botanic Gardens with a marquee right next to the hut where the couple said their vows, and there was plenty of space to move around and chill in, which was closed off by plants and trees, so it felt nicely closed off from the rest of the venue 👍
 
We also made the famous trip up “The Tunnel” for couples photos, right on the cliff edge, with nothing blocking your view of the sea, Ventnor and the horizon just as the sun was starting to set – gorgeous!
 
Then into the evening for a BBQ and a boogie, two big wins in my book, and people really did boogie at this wedding! Of course I was all in for dancing photos, I really think it might be my favourite part of the wedding day for taking photos, and these guests didn’t disappoint, thank you all!

Such a lovely wedding and such a lovely couple! Lorenzo & Jen got married in July at East Afton Farmhouse just after the big heat wave, so the sun came out to play but it wasn’t too hot, which I think everyone appreciated!
 
They decided to do a first look just down the road at Freshwater Bay, what a backdrop for a first look, and for couples photos too! It’s easy to forget how bloody beautiful the Isle of Wight really is.
 
Lorenzo is Italian so there was lots of little Italian themed bits throughout the decor and the day itself, including their STUNNING wedding cake by Miss Dottys Cakes, and some of the speeches being in Italian, even one with a translation via a qpr code - brilliant idea!
 
Photographing Lorenzo & Jen’s wedding was nothing but a joy and an honour! Thank you both so much ♥️

Sarah & Dave managed to avoid the wedding showers in May and the sun shone on Warbrook House Hotel  and made it even more beautiful.
 
Hugo was their ring bearer and did an absolutely stellar job too! There’s always a bit of a question mark with kids if things are actually going to go to plan, but he did a perfect job of giving his parents the rings and it was such a special moment!
 
Sarah & Dave arranged it so the first hour of the dance floor was just for the kids and actually I think this worked really well, even the adults were getting into the spirit, so by the time it was adult dancing time, people were already into it!

So this is what happened when this lass from the Isle of Wight and this lad from Australia fall in love and get married, and I LOVE IT! 🇬🇧🇦🇺 
 
I had never photographed let alone been to The Pink House in Bembridge before, and as a photographer walking around during the mornings wedding prep I was like a kid in a candy store. There are so many interesting and beautiful parts to this wonderful venue, and the sun was bouncing around the whole place to show it off even more!
 
After dinner the weather really made a u-turn and the wind really started to set into the side of the marquee, the house on one side, the sea on the other (eeeek!), and at one point the sea side of the marquee decided to move around to the point where I wondered what photographs I might be taking by the end 🤣 but obviously everything was fine and no marquees flew into the sea...
 
Jennie & Garth are such a fantastic couple who took everything in their stride, and you could tell wanted to be in the moment and enjoy every part of their wedding, and even braved the big winds for their couples photos, in which we were all laughing ♥️ THANK YOU BOTH!

​PS. Jennie’s wonderful bridesmaids did a game of “survivor” as part of their speech, absolutely fantastic and it got everyone going, so please look it up for something to do on your day I highly recommend the silliness! 

My photography journey starts when I was just 17, and when I also had a very different haircut!

School was never my thing, I wasn't the social butterfly or the massively high achiever during those 13 years of formal education, but I managed to get through those years mostly unscathed and with decent GCSE's. After that all of my teachers insisted that I should then move onto sixth form, and to not do so would be a waste, university had my name written all over it apparently. But after a year of sixth form I was deeply unhappy.

I'd got stuck into one of those corners I think everyone does at least once in their lives, I hated it where I was, but I had no idea what to do next, so I stayed where I was. Not long before I had to go back for my second year I was talking to my dad about it, telling him how much I hated it and didn't want to do it, and he abruptly said to me "so just quit!"

Surprised, I looked at him and said "but I have no idea what to do next, I can't just drop out, what if I regret it?"

"Holly, you should never have regrets, because all we're doing is making the best decisions we can at the time we make them."

I think this is probably the best advice I've had in my life so far, and I officially became a "school drop out".

​15 years on, I haven't regretted this choice. Even though I genuinely didn't know what I wanted to do, I didn't have a plan, even though it was a bumpy road and not easy, and this business absolutely was not built overnight, I always knew it was the right choice.

At the end of 2022 I received an email completely out of the blue, that I am so glad that I received: “We are visiting Dublin, and would love to do an engagement shoot with you!”

Um… an engagement photo shoot in Ireland?? YES PLEASE I’M IN! 🇮🇪

Taijah & Robert decided to have an engagement shoot while on their travels around Europe in lovely Dublin! After first popping into The Bank on College Green for a celebratory drink first, we hit the streets around the famous temple bar area, got a good luck rub off of Molly Malone 👀🍀 before we visited the famous Ha’penny Bridge.

Unfortunately the weather was not on our side when we visited The Cliffs of Moher, we all got absolutely soaked and my knees were so cold they wouldn’t stop shaking for AGES after haha, but we embraced the weather and managed to get some great snaps all the same!

Taijah & Robert - you were absolutely fantastic to work with and wonderful to get to know. Thank you both so much for being an absolute and complete joy ♥️ I wish you both a lifetime of happiness together.

It feels weird trying to condense Sammy & Dan’s wedding, as this is the second wedding of theirs I’ve photographed! 

BUT FIRST, their Engagement Shoot, or more accurately their Pre-Wedding Maternity photo shoot! Sammy & Dan are such great sports. What was meant to be a morning rain shower on a Sunday in May, turned into heavy rain all day But we did their pre-wedding shoot anyway and really did go with the flow...​

​I photographed their official wedding back in 2020 at Oakley Hall Hotel, and two years later we were back again to celebrate in style with more of Sammy & Dan’s nearest and dearest.

​Since their 2020 wedding two became three, and they welcomed their beautiful daughter Bethany who of course featured a lot that day, so there was quite a different vibe from the first time round, along with one of Dan’s best men Dwight officiating the much more personal chilled and unofficial wedding ceremony.

I absolutely loved hanging out with these two lovely people again, and enjoyed photographing their wedding day no.2, thank you both!! ♥️
