Real people who actually 'got off auto' by coming to my beginners photography workshop

I'd like to share three stories today about three previous attendees of my "Get Me Off Auto" Photography Workshop for beginners.

​To celebrate them for taking the leap into starting something new, learning a skill that has brought me and many other so much joy, for not letting fear hold them back and not letting ye ol' photography industry intimidate them, because let's be honest it can really be quite intimidating and snobby, BUT NOT HERE FOLKS!

It was such a joy to have Hannah, who also runs Wight Entertainment, come along to my beginners photography workshop. She wanted to learn how to take more professional photos with a DSLR camera of her handy work at weddings, and also because she wanted to take better quality pictures of her children as they grow up.

From someone who didn’t know how to shoot in manual when she first came along to my workshop, to seeing these great photos taken only a couple of weeks later totally in manual (shown above), no tutor could be bloody prouder!!

When reviewing the workshop, Hannah said "Today I attended Holly’s ‘Get Me Off Auto’ workshop. It was excellent! Holly was super friendly and made it easy to relax and ask questions. The way she presented it made it so easy to understand and I finally feel like I understand my camera and can take great quality pictures. Thank you so much!"

The lovely Lesley of The Cakesmith desperately wanted to get stuck into photographing dogs as a new hobby of hers, and I am so pleased to say she has been doing do ever since.

Losing her beloved dog Ollie aged 15, she had the thought that 'I never think I have too many photos of him' and so she wanted to start taking as many photos as she could not just of her own dogs, but of as many dogs as she could aim her camera at!

"Ollie needed lots of care, attention and time and now I have lots of spare time so I thought I would find a new hobby to occupy myself. So with the help of my very talented friend Holly Cade I got a new camera, lots of lenses and went on her 'Get Me Off Auto' workshop. I've decided I want to take photos of one of my most favourite things in the world.....DOGS!!!"

​A few weeks after attending a GMOA workshop, Beth shared these photos that she did of her first ever photo shoot on social media! 

I love seeing this lovely lass continue to practice and improve her skills, and I love helping people get off the automatic settings on their cameras, and teach them how to properly take the wheel and use their cameras in manual mode.
