The Best Locations on The Isle of Wight to have your engagement shoot

We on the Isle of Wight are truly spoilt for choice when it comes to places to go for a photo shoot, it can be a bit overwhelming choosing just one location for something so special.

​So in no particular order, here are some of many fantastic places on the island, that I've been to many times and are perfect for engagement shoots.

1. Compton Bay

Okay so this list might be in order in a way, because this is personally my favourite beach on the Isle of Wight. Partly because I have SO many happy memories of coming here as a child, but I think it is bloody gorgeous and it's a very diverse location too.

You can walk along the stunning clifftop for some photos, and then down the steps to the beach with its beautiful orange cliffs and iconic white chalk cliffs in the background. It's a lovely sandy beach, but when the tide goes out there's also lots of rocks to climb on too.

​2. Freshwater Bay

Just round the corner from Compton Bay, is Freshwater Bay. You might think as they're right next door to each other (and they're both "bays") that they are the same, but they are two completely different beauties. 

This bay is not sandy at all, and isn't as vast as Compton, there is also a lot more available in the way of cliffs. Many photos of the island that you'll see that aren't The Needles will probably be Freshwater Bay, and all along the military road (including Compton), and there's good reason for that.

​3. ​Firestone Copse

Here along with Parkhurst Forest are perfect places if you want to somewhere with less beach and more trees. At Firestone there is one huge advantage though.. Drews Brews - a lovely fresh coffee and hot drinks sold out of a brilliant orange truck, which can come in handy if it rains!

​4. Culver cliff

If you're looking for somewhere high up along the clifftop, this is a fabulous choice for a photo shoot location on the Isle of Wight. As well as the fantastic views theres also a rather striking monument which looks fab and all dramatic in photos.

​5. The Needles

Beautiful and iconic, with vast views of the horizon and Alum Bay.

Be warned at this location we will need to walk if we have any chance of getting near the needles (which you can't get right next to unless you go in a boat I should add!) and high enough to see more of those great views, but if you're up for it then I'm in! Plus the walk downhill is also a lovely little reward on the way back, along with the photos of course!

​6. Ventnor Botanic Gardens

This little beaut of an eco climate, nestled into glorious Ventnor is fantastic for photo opportunities, quite frankly you could easily stay for hours. There's so many different sections and spaces to choose from, including a green house!

​7. Carisbrooke Castle 

Okay so I should be clear that it's not actually inside Carisbrooke Castle, but the walk around the castle is very pretty, and this location is particularly pretty in the autumn, as seen in the photos below, plus the walk isn't as far as some of the other places on this list and is mainly flat once you get going, unless we go in the moat! 

​8. Newtown Creek

This location is quite different from the others, in that there isn't a beach here but most of the landscape is really flat and you can see for miles around!

There's also lots of different kind of spaces and fields on the walk down to the creek and back, so there's lots of photo opportunities as we go!

​9. The Duver & St. Helens beach

The Duver is particularly stunning in the summer months, and is shown off in a terrific way during golden hour, but to be honest it's so gorgeous there we could go any time of the year/day and get some great shots.

Right next to the Duver is St. Helens beach, which also has great colourful beach huts, along with the unusual and striking St Helens Old Church which has a huge white wall at the back of it, and can be accessed when the tide isn't high.
